Over the weekend, the 7th grade boys basketball team took second place the Joliet West City of Champions Tournament! All-Tournament Honors went to, Chase DiVito who led the team with 43pts in four games. In the tournament opener, the Foxes ran through Troy by a score of 48-26. Scoring was led by Chase DiVito and Cole Yearsley. In a second round match-up, the Foxes outlasted an athletic Homer team 40-37. Chase DiVito again dominated the post and the boards, finishing with 14pts. The semi-final game paired Yorkville with Brooks, but Brooks was no match for the Foxes swarming defense. Behind a balanced team effort, and a huge game from Doug Burson, Yorkville moved on to the Championship game, winning 38-20. In the Championship game, Yorkville was paired against a tough Minooka team. The Foxes played through adversity, but were unable to pull out a victory. As time expired, the Foxes fell to Minooka 56-50. Congratulations on a hard fought 2nd place finish!
Over the weekend, the 8th grade boys basketball team took second place at the Joliet West City of Champions Tournament! In the opening game, the Foxes pushed through some early struggles to top Minooka by a score of 42-31. In the second round match-up on Saturday, the Foxes were able to handle a Cowherd team through strong defense and quick transition buckets for a 41-19 W. The semi-final game matched Yorkville against a tough Troy basketball team. The Foxes trailed throughout. At one point the game was 40-25 with 10 minutes left in the game. After a timeout, the Foxes stormed back to finish the game on a 20 – 2 run and sealed the victory 45-42. Toran Harris led the storm with 18 points. Immediately following the extraordinary comeback, the Foxes ran into a buzzsaw against JFK. The boys fought hard and emptied the tanks in the finale but came up short by a final of 50-35. Taaj Davis was a huge contributor in all 4 games combining to score 41 points. It was an impressive outing by our boys with clutch shooting and huge minutes by all.
